Harare – The signature scarf worn by President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been purchased for US$300,000, with the proceeds directed toward the Youth Empowerment Fund (YEF).
This contribution increases the fund’s total from US$2 million to US$2.3 million.
Presidential UAE Investment Adviser Dr. Paul Tungwarara speaking at the inaugural launch of YEF in the capital announced that investors from Dubai had made the purchase as a show of support for the President’s vision.
“President Mnangagwa, we have investors from Dubai in our midst who have pledged to purchase your scarf for US$300,000.”
“The investors said the money should be channeled towards the revolving Youth Empowerment Fund,” he said.
He further emphasized that the initiative reflects Mnangagwa’s commitment to empowering young people across the country.
“You have directed the money for youth empowerment to the most remote areas, consistent with Your Excellency’s mantra of leaving no place and no one behind,” he said.
YEF is a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide financial assistance, training, and opportunities for young entrepreneurs across Zimbabwe.
By fostering innovation and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the fund aims to drive economic growth, reduce unemployment, and create a more prosperous future for the nation.
Thousands of young Zimbabweans attended the launch event at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), showcasing the enthusiasm and potential of the country’s youth.
YEF is anticipated to have a transformative impact on Zimbabwe’s economy and future prospects.
Youths are often at the forefront of innovation, and empowering them with the necessary tools and funding will encourage the development of new technologies and solutions tailored to Zimbabwe’s unique challenges.
This will position the country as a hub for innovation in the region, attracting further investment and partnerships.
