Highlanders players boycott training over unpaid salaries ahead of Dynamos clash

BULAWAYO — Highlanders’ preparations for Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League showdown against Dynamos have been thrown into disarray after players reportedly boycotted training over unpaid salaries and winning bonuses.

According to reports, members of the Bosso squad failed to attend training on Tuesday in protest over outstanding payments, raising fresh concerns ahead of one of Zimbabwean football’s biggest fixtures.

Sources cited by state controlled media said players are still owed salaries and match-winning bonuses, with frustrations reportedly mounting over delays in settling the arrears.

Several senior players are understood to have stayed away from training as pressure grows on the club’s leadership to address the payment dispute.

The latest developments come at a crucial stage of the season, with Highlanders set to host rivals Dynamos in the latest edition of the Battle of Zimbabwe at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled to kick off at 3pm and is expected to attract a capacity crowd.

The reported boycott leaves Highlanders facing an unwelcome distraction as they prepare for a match that traditionally carries significant importance for both clubs and their supporters.

Club officials had not publicly commented on the matter at the time of writing.
