Harare – Zimbabwean football legend Benjani Mwaruwari has thrown his hat into the ring, confirming his candidacy for the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidency.

The iconic former national team captain, affectionately known as ‘The Undertaker,’ officially submitted his nomination papers at the ZIFA headquarters in Harare, ahead of Wednesday’s deadline.

Mwaruwari’s entry into the fray brings a unique perspective to the table, as he is the only former footballer vying for the top post.

His illustrious career, both locally and internationally, has earned him a reputation as a leader and a winner.

Meanwhile, football enthusiast Prophet Walter Magaya, and former outspoken Norton MP also joined the race, submitting his nomination papers for the upcoming ZIFA elections.

The polls are scheduled to take place on January 25, 2025, at the Rainbow Towers in Harare.
