HARARE — Mukudzei Chitsama, the 27-year-old hip-hop artist affluently known as Holy Ten, was arrested on Tuesday after a 14-year-old girl accused him of raping her in his Hatfield home.
The meeting, the teenage girl says, was set up after the musician promised her a feature in his next music video.
According to police sources, the teenager, who had recently returned from South Africa, first connected with the ‘Delilah’ hitmaker on social media.
On Monday afternoon, around 3pm, the girl called Holy Ten to say she was coming to the studio.
She arrived at his recording location in Avondale with a friend and waited for him to finish his session, sources said.
After the recording, the friend left.
The teenager and Holy Ten then proceeded to his house in Hatfield, ostensibly to film video content.
It was there that the alleged attack took place.
“He locked his bedroom door and raped her once, without protection,” a source told state media, adding that other people were present in the house at the time, though in separate rooms.
The teenager told investigators that Holy Ten threatened to kill her if she resisted the sexual assault, according to sources.
After the alleged rape, Holy Ten reportedly called a taxi for the girl and she left his property.
Once home, the teenager broke down and disclosed the sexual abuse to her aunt.
The relative immediately reported the matter to police, leading to the star’s arrest later that day.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Tuesday confirmed the arrest without providing further details, stating that investigations are ongoing.
“We can confirm the arrest of a male adult in connection with the alleged rape of a minor. The suspect is assisting with inquiries,” Nyathi said.
The teenager, who had been living in South Africa before returning home, is receiving support from family members and welfare organisations.
Holy Ten is expected to appear in court on Wednesday to face charges related to the alleged rape.
