BULAWAYO – An 85-year-old caretaker in Kensington was seriously injured after being struck in the neck with an axe by a woman who allegedly demanded sex, police said.
The incident occurred at around 5PM on August 10 when the woman, known to the victim, entered his room and allegedly made the sexual demand.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the man refused, prompting the suspect to seize an axe and hit him on the right side of the neck.
“The complainant sustained a deep cut and reported the matter to the police.
“An ambulance ferried him to hospital for treatment,” Msebele said.
Police are appealing for information leading to the suspect’s arrest and urged the public to resolve disputes without violence.
In a separate case, police in Kwekwe arrested Thembinkosi Ndlovu, 22, and Nkosinomusa Moyo, 24, for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old woman at a bar after she rejected romantic advances.
The incident took place on August 10 at Mutegude Shops in Redcliff.
The victim, Rosemary Diana, was allegedly assaulted after turning down Moyo.
Ndlovu is accused of striking her several times with a cooking stick, while Moyo allegedly stabbed her in the back.
