Harare – Zimbabwe will host the inaugural regional construction summit for Southern Africa in Victoria Falls, from November 27 to 30.
The Summit organised by the Zimbabwe Builders Constructors Association (ZBCA) will be graced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The summit will run under the theme: Leveraging Investment In Infrastructure As A Catalyst For Economic Growth bringing together 50 key players from the construction sector.
ZBCA president Tinashe Manzungu said the summit aims to drive economic development in Southern Africa.
“We are saying we are the builders of the nation, we are the builders of SADC.
“The highest office in Zimbabwe has confirmed he will grace the occasion, definitely this is something at his heartbeat to see Zimbabwe and other regional countries growing.
“It is a summit for everyone to come whether a constructor, a financier because it is for everyone in the industry,” he said.
Manzungu added that the summit will address key issues, regional trade within the SADC countries which currently stands at 25 percent.
Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) will also assist investors to explore investment opportunities in the country.
“Inter-regional trade is currently less than 25 %, not only in SADC but Africa at large. So, it’s something that we will look at what needs to be done to create connectivity within the region.
“We believe for this trade to grow, the construction industry plays a critical role in improving infrastructure and roads, to make any trading efficient.
“The summit is a must-attend for all key players and it is a game changer,” he added.
