Soweto South Africa – Zimbabwe secured a decisive 3-1 victory over Namibia in their CAF African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Orlando Stadium in South Africa, maintaining their strong bid for a place in next year’s tournament.

After a goalless first half, the Warriors dominated the second period, capitalizing on their dominance to claim maximum points against a struggling Namibian side.

A standout performance from Walter Musona, who netted a well-deserved brace, and a goal from substitute Prince “Mgadafi” Dube propelled Zimbabwe to victory.

With this win, Zimbabwe solidified their position in Group J of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, sitting just two points behind log leaders Cameroon.

Musona opened the scoring in the 50th minute, expertly finding the net with a right-footed shot from outside the box.

The Warriors doubled their lead in the 61st minute when Musona converted a penalty awarded after a Namibian player handled the ball in the box.

Zimbabwe continued to dominate the second half, with Terrence Dzvukamanja and Jordan Zemura creating numerous chances.

Super sub Dube sealed the victory in the 89th minute with a clinical finish from a low cross.

Namibia managed to pull one goal back through Godwin Eiseb in the closing stages, but it was too little, too late.

With this victory, Zimbabwe is now well-positioned to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament.

Just two more points from their remaining two matches will secure their spot.
