HARARE — Retired Air Marshal Henry Muchena has delivered a candid critique of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3), raising concerns about its potential impact on governance and the country’s democratic trajectory.
In an exclusive interview with Ignite Media, Muchena expressed unease over the proposed constitutional changes, adding his voice to a growing chorus of stakeholders scrutinising the bill.
He warned that any reforms to the Constitution must prioritise national interest, transparency, and the preservation of democratic principles.
Beyond the constitutional debate, Muchena took aim at what he described as the increasing monetisation of leadership, condemning the practice of individuals using financial influence to ascend to positions of authority.
He argued that such tendencies erode meritocracy, weaken institutions, and ultimately compromise public trust in leadership.
