Zanu PF vows to crush Mthwakazi Republic Party

Harare – Zanu PF has vowed it will crush the secessionist opposition outfit Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP), for its outspoken campaign to breakaway Matabeleland and Midlands from Zimbabwe.

MRP has long argued that Zimbabwe is not a unitary state and has accused the Zanu PF government of perpetuating the Gukurahundi atrocities.

Zanu PF political commissar Munyaradzi Machacha who doubles as the principal Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology addressing delegates at the Mayors and Chairpersons three-day-orientation in the capital said Zimbabwe was a unitary state and vowed to crush MRP for their secessionist views and ideology.

“These young men of the Mthwakazi party have been saying they want new borders and will put new border posts that divide Zimbabwe.

“We will shoot them and beat them, because Zimbabwe is a unitary state.

“We can not partition it or split it into smaller states, and that will be not only a disaster but totally unacceptable,” said Machacha.

MRP’s secessionist stance is based on the historical context of the 1891 agreement between Sir Leander Starr Jameson and King Lobengula, which established the Jameson Line boundary between Mashonaland and the state of Mthwakazi under British oversight.

Recently, MRP has sought support from local, regional, and international bodies to restore the Mthwakazi State, but these efforts have been met with skepticism by the government.

Machacha further warned political and civil organizations advocating for Zimbabwe’s partition, threatening severe state repression.

“Anyone who tries to do that (partition Zimbabwe) is declaring war on the state and the state will descend on them with all its might.

“Our internal peace, the way it is right now, where we will rule ourselves in peace is what we want.

“Anyone who wants to disturb that peace invokes the anger and wrath of the state,” said Machacha.
