Harare – The Harare Magistrates Court has issued a warrant of arrest for Lillian Nyamasoka, managing director of Shawashi Agri Private Limited, after she failed to appear in court to answer fraud charges involving over US$75,000.
Nyamasoka, alongside her company, is facing two counts of fraud.
The complainant in the case is Xingzhongji Enterprises, a registered company represented by its managing director Tang Zhonghua.
According to court documents, in March 2024, Xingzhongji sought to procure 12,600kg of Cutrag tobacco for export and entered into a contract with Nyamasoka on 11 March.
The company allegedly paid US$74,322.36 to Shawashi Agri, supported by a commercial invoice issued two days later.
However, prosecutors claim Nyamasoka falsely informed the complainant that the tobacco had been purchased from Mashonaland Tobacco Company, while knowing no such transaction had occurred.
Repeated follow-ups reportedly led nowhere, prompting a police complaint. Investigations revealed no payment had been made, and the funds were allegedly misappropriated.
In a separate but related matter, a second complainant, Wang You You, a Chinese national employed by Xingzhongji, is said to have engaged Nyamasoka to assist with acquiring a Zimbabwean work permit.
Acting on alleged misrepresentations, Wang reportedly paid US$1,500, but no permit was delivered and the accused became unreachable.
In both cases, police investigations indicate the funds were not used for their intended purposes, and no recoveries have been made.
