“Remain rooted among the people,” — Tungwarara reflects on central committee debut

HARARE — Newly appointed Zanu PF Central Committee member Paul Tungwarara says his inaugural meeting of the party’s Central Committee was defined by a clear directive from President Emmerson Mnangagwa for party leaders to strengthen their engagement with communities and faithfully execute the party’s mandate.

Tungwarara attended his first Central Committee meeting on Thursday at Zanu PF headquarters in Harare, describing the occasion as a significant milestone and an opportunity to receive strategic guidance from the party’s First Secretary and President

“Today, I had the distinct honor of attending my inaugural Zanu PF Central Committee meeting at the party headquarters,” Tungwarara said.

He said he was grateful to Mnangagwa and the Zanu PF Manicaland Provincial leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving on the party’s highest decision-making body between congresses.

“I extend my profound gratitude to the First Secretary and President, His Excellency Cde Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, alongside the Zanu PF Manicaland Provincial leadership, for reposing their trust and confidence in me with this momentous assignment,” he said.

Tungwarara said Mnangagwa used the meeting to provide what he described as “strategic and revolutionary marching orders” aimed at advancing the party’s mission, with particular emphasis on grassroots leadership.

“These instructions demand that we remain deeply rooted among the people, serving with humility and executing the party’s mandate with absolute precision,” Tungwarara said.

He said Mnangagwa underscored that the Second Republic’s empowerment and wealth-creation agenda is built on the principle that political independence must be matched by economic self-reliance.

According to Tungwarara, the President told Central Committee members that Zimbabwe’s sovereignty would ultimately be measured by its ability to feed its people, industrialise the economy and modernise infrastructure through its own efforts, while continuing to value partnerships with the international community.

“The President also reaffirmed the enduring national philosophy:

“Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatirwa nevene vayo / Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo,” he said.

Tungwarara said the meeting had reinforced his commitment to serving the people with humility and discipline while implementing the party’s programmes at grassroots level.

His debut at the Central Committee comes as Zanu PF continues consolidating its structures and driving programmes aligned with the Second Republic’s development agenda, with party leaders expected to cascade the resolutions and directives adopted at the meeting throughout the country’s provincial and district structures.
