Harare City savour sweet return to the top flight

HARARE-  Harare City  have sealed their glorious return to the Premiership in style — thrashing Jumbo Giants 3-0 to clinch the MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League crown.

The Sunshine Boys’ triumph at Callies Ground yesterday ends a four-season exile from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

It rewards a campaign built on grit on the pitch and calm behind the scenes.

Steady leadership from club chairman Dr Simon Muzviyo kept the executive committee and operations on an even keel throughout.

Unlike so many promotion chases derailed by cash chaos, Harare City enjoyed rare stability all season.

That allowed the club to keep their eyes firmly on the football — and the results followed.

Black Rhinos pushed them hard in a fiercely contested title race.

But the Sunshine Boys held their nerve when it mattered most.

Their final-day blitz — three unanswered goals — got the job done in emphatic fashion.

It also killed off Black Rhinos’ promotion dreams stone dead.

For a club relegated in 2022, this is a huge turnaround and a fresh chapter.

Now the real test begins in the Premier Soccer League.

With stability off the field, the Sunshine Boys will be desperate to make their return count and restore their reputation among Zimbabwe’s big boys.
