Harare — Urban Groover Alexio Gwenzi, popularly known as Goodchild, has extended humanitarian support to children at Xtreme Trans Foundation, a children’s home in Goromonzi, Mashonaland East, through his charitable initiative, the Goodchild Foundation For Disadvantaged Children (GFFDC).
Over the weekend, the foundation, with support from well-wishers, distributed Christmas gifts and groceries to the children, easing pressure on the home during the festive season.
The intervention forms part of the foundation’s broader efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable children in institutional care.
Last year, Goodchild, working in collaboration with Zimbabwean social media personality Nashie Zim of the “Kuchibhorani” fame, now based in Canada, facilitated the drilling of a borehole at the home.
Before the intervention, children reportedly walked approximately five kilometres daily to fetch water for drinking and domestic use.
The foundation has also provided a wheelchair to one child living with a disability, significantly improving mobility and quality of life.
Speaking on the initiative, Goodchild called on well-wishers and the broader community to continue supporting charitable programmes aimed at assisting disadvantaged members of society.
He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the needs of vulnerable children.
Goodchild is currently a board member of the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA).
