Harare – Dubai-based billionaire Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk has pledged US$300,000 to the Presidential War Veterans Fund to support Zimbabwe’s liberation war heroes.

This donation aligns with the government’s efforts to improve the livelihoods of those who played a pivotal role in the country’s liberation struggle.

US$1.5 million has already been allocated to the Presidential War Veterans Fund, with three of the country’s provinces receiving US$150,000 each as part of the first phase of disbursements.

The funds are aimed at economically empowering war veterans and enhancing their overall well-being.

Mulk, the chairman of T10 Global Sports and a prominent businessman spearheading the development of a multi-billion-dollar Cyber City in Harare, has been actively involved in promoting Zimbabwe on the global stage.

His latest pledge reflects his commitment to supporting Zimbabwe’s development agenda.

Dr. Paul Tungwarara, Special Presidential Investment Advisor to the United Arab Emirates, confirmed Mulk’s dedication to the cause.

“Mr. Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk has demonstrated unwavering commitment to Zimbabwe’s development and the well-being of its people.

“His desire to donate US$300,000 to the Presidential War Veterans Fund is a testament to his belief in empowering those who have sacrificed so much for the nation.

“This contribution will go a long way in ensuring that our war veterans receive the support and recognition they deserve,” Dr. Tungwarara said.

However, some critics have raised concerns about the transparency and accountability of the Presidential War Veterans Fund.

Past initiatives aimed at supporting war veterans have occasionally been marred by allegations of mismanagement and unequal distribution of resources.

Stakeholders have called for greater oversight to ensure that donations like Mulk’s reach their intended beneficiaries and are used effectively.

Mulk’s involvement in Zimbabwe’s economic and social development has been widely praised.

His Cyber City project, a multi-million-dollar initiative, aims to transform Harare into a regional hub for technology and innovation, creating hundreds of jobs and fostering entrepreneurship.

Additionally, T10 Global Sports’ partnership with Zimbabwe under the theme “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” seeks to boost foreign investment and economic prospects in the country.

“This donation is not just about financial support; it is about honoring the sacrifices of our heroes and ensuring they live dignified lives,” Dr. Tungwarara added.
