Croco Motors owner Chingwena and sons implicated in Rhodes Estate Fraud

Harare – Croco Motors owner Moses Tonderai Chingwena and his sons have been accused of unlawfully appointing themselves as directors of Karoi Properties, a company owned by the late Brian James Rhodes.

The allegations were brought forward by Elizabeth Parerenyatwa, a Harare woman who claims to be the executor of Rhodes’ estate.

Parerenyatwa made the revelations while testifying in a separate case where she is accusing two Harare men of supplying false information to a public official.

During her testimony, Parerenyatwa asserted that Chingwena and his sons had fraudulently taken control of Rhodes’ estate and are currently benefiting from it.

She further labeled them as “criminals” who should face arrest for their actions.

However, during Parerenyatwa’s cross-examination lawyers representing two Harare men who stand accused of supplying false information to a public official told the court that the complainant Parerenyatwa was a ”fraudster” and “criminal.”

The lawyers said Parerenyatwa forged a Power of Attorney, and she deliberately failed to bring it as evidence to conceal her deeds.

“The documents which you say give you the power of Attorney were forged, and the accused persons are saying you are a fraudster and a criminal,”the defence said.
