MUTARE — The enforcement of a High Court order in Mutare has triggered a confrontation in Manicaland, with Destiny of Afrika Network (DANET) alleging that its former projects manager, Wilson Masokowere, defied a court interdict and obstructed officials on duty.
DANET says the dispute followed Masokowere’s dismissal after internal disciplinary proceedings.
He was suspended over accountability concerns and findings from a forensic audit, and later dismissed under the Labour Act (Chapter 28:01) after failing to attend a disciplinary hearing.
The organisation maintains that, in terms of Statutory Instrument 15 of 2006, the dismissal became binding when he did not pursue an appeal.
DANET alleges that Masokowere has refused to vacate its offices at 29, 5th Avenue, Mutare, prompting an application to the High Court.
On February 11, 2026, under Case No. R-HCH6454/25, Justice Manzunzu granted a final interdict barring Masokowere from entering or approaching the premises and from interfering with operations.
DANET officials say he was served with the order on February 13, 2026.
However, when a Messenger of Court and five police officers arrived with national executive secretary Gerald Mabika to enforce it and recover office keys, they were allegedly blocked.
The organisation claims Masokowere mobilised men in trucks armed with machetes and other weapons, creating a threatening scene. It says the numbers grew during the standoff.
DANET argues that the alleged defiance amounts to contempt of court and undermines the authority of the judiciary and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
It has also called on the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) to investigate claims of money laundering and the alleged transfer of corporate funds into personal accounts.
Further allegations include the improper allocation of residential stands to members of the judiciary, police and security sector.
DANET says a previous attempt by forensic auditors to investigate was disrupted, with members of the audit team reportedly injured. No arrests were made.
Masokowere was not available for comment at the time of publication.
DANET president and founder, Dr Rev Obedia Musindo, was reportedly in Harare when the events occurred.
The organisation says it may seek the Sheriff of the High Court’s intervention to enforce eviction if compliance is not secured.
