Chitungwiza – Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) Seke East congregation is set to celebrate a major milestone in the construction of their church building in Chitungwiza on Sunday.

The congregation that is led by Reverend Joseph Zindoga and falls under the RCZ Rangano Huru Chitungwiza is in the process of constructing a mega church.

Construction works started in June this year when the ground breaking was done and much progress has been made to date as the building is now at slab level.

In an interview, the chairperson of the Resource Mobilisation Committee for Seke East Mr Tsungirirai Jeche said they were excited with the progress the congregation has made so far.

“I am very grateful to the members of Seke East who have been putting together resources for the construction of the church as well as all the sponsors who have come in to lend us a helping hand.

“Initially, our plan as a church was to complete the building in five years time but our external sponsors came in and said we should bring the time down to three years, which will be a record time for such a mega building.”

Mr Jeche said all is now in place for the celebrations on Sunday, which are meant to appraise the sponsors and the congregants on the progress made so far as well as raise funds for the progression of the project.

“We have made tremendous progress since we started construction in June and we are hoping that by June next year we would have completed all brick work.

“I am very grateful to our sponsors who are moving with us from day one and I know with God, we will be able to beat our target. I also want to express my gratitude to the congregants both in the country and in the diaspora, with special mention going to Mrs Mashongwa based in Dubai, as well as all the church committees that are working tirelessly for the success of the project,” said Mr Jeche.

Seke East congegation secretary Mr Matasi and the Building Committee chair Mr Gaba weighed in saying that they were excited with the progress that has been made in the construction work.

Some of the guests that are expected to grace the celebrations include the guest of honour Mrs Rushwaya, Mr Chidindi, Mr Gwenzi, Mr Jecheche, Engineer Mutazu, Dr Mayida, Dr Mazvuru, Mr Mazenge, Mr Chakanyuka, Mr Jeche K, Mrs Kunaka, Mr Muwandi, Mrs Gora, Mrs Gwashure, Mr Havadi, Mr Zizhou and the Chigerwe brothers.
