HARARE — Rufaro Marketing, a strategic business unit of the Harare City Council, has appointed its Finance Director, Ngoni Chimbalu, as the new Chief Executive Officer, a move stakeholders believe will inject fresh energy into the entity.
The elevation was announced during a performance contract signing ceremony held in the capital, attended by officials from the Office of the President and Cabinet, the Ministry of Local Government, and other key stakeholders.
Alongside Chimbalu’s appointment, Harare City Chamber Secretary Warren Chiwawa returns as Board Chairperson of the entity.
Attendees welcomed the duo as the “energetic young blood” needed to drive transformation at the council-owned firm.
Chimbalu has earned praise for strengthening financial accountability at Rufaro Marketing, which has previously been plagued by corruption and abuse of funds.
Acting Harare Mayor George Mjajati expressed his satisfaction with the appointment.
“This is young blood. Chimbalu is a hands-on man; he has done well at Rufaro Marketing and deserves to be elevated to such a position,” Mjajati said.
“We have Chamber Secretary Warren Chiwawa as Board Chairperson.
“We admire this team, these are young and energetic persons needed at Rufaro Marketing,” he said.
