HARARE — Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Member of Parliament for Epworth North, Zivai Mhetu, has dismissed claims that a woman recently announced as having joined Zanu PF is his spouse, describing the assertions as false and misleading.
The claims follow a recent announcement by Zanu PF youth league deputy secretary for commissariat, Taurai Kandishaya, who introduced a new party member identified as Nancy Mafudza, referring to her as Mhetu’s wife.
Kandishaya welcomed Mafudza into Zanu PF, praised her as a hardworking woman, and expressed hope that Mhetu would also join the ruling party.
In response, Mhetu categorically denied any marital relationship with Mafudza.
“I’m not married to Nancy.
She is married to someone else with whom she has children.
“She is not my wife and has never been,” Mhetu said.
Mhetu acknowledged that Mafudza previously worked with him in a political capacity, clarifying that she served as his campaign manager ahead of the 2023 general elections, but stressed that their association was strictly professional.
“I don’t deny that she was my campaign manager before the 2023 general elections,” he said.
There was no immediate comment from Kandishaya or Zanu PF officials in response to Mhetu’s comments.
