Harare – The fourth edition of the Bokola Film Festival (BFF) is set to revolutionize Zimbabwe’s cinematic landscape with a vibrant fusion of art and activism.
This year’s theme, “Reel Green,” aims to spark conversations, inspire action, and showcase the transformative power of film in addressing climate change and social justice.
Scheduled for August 24th at Moto Republik, the festival will feature a diverse lineup of movies that blend entertainment and education to drive social impact.
Two standout projects, produced by the 2024 Film Fellowship Fellows, will make their debut: “Fragile Existence,” a documentary exploring the lives of people with albinism in rural Zimbabwe, and “Water Thief,” a fiction film set in water-scarce Bulawayo that follows a heroine’s quest to provide for her community.
“We believe in the power of film to reflect and represent diverse voices,” said Fundire, the BFF’s director.
The festival will go beyond screenings, hosting interactive workshops, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions to foster dialogue and capacity building within the industry.
Attendees can also enjoy live performances, a vibrant marketplace, virtual reality gaming, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
“Reel Green” is more than just a theme – it’s a call to action.
BFF aims to spark conversations, ignite creative solutions, and enable communities to build resilience in the face of climate change.
As Zimbabwe grapples with the effects of climate change and drought-induced El Niño, BFF emerges as a beacon of hope and a platform for change.
Through its diverse programming and commitment to inclusivity, the festival is poised to inspire, educate, and empower audiences to take action and create a greener future for Zimbabwe and beyond.
Admission to BFF is free.
