Harare – A group of Zimbabwean students officially bid farewell last Friday as they prepare to pursue tertiary education in India under the Global Arcus Scholarships programme.
The scholarship initiative is the result of a partnership between Mobishop Two Six Three Connect Pvt Ltd, Global Arcus, the Shamwari Dzinovaka Foundation, and other collaborators.
The programme highlights the role of educational exchange in driving economic growth, cultural understanding, and personal development.
It also complements broader efforts such as MUREZA’s plans to establish local factories and Mobishop’s 263 Youth Hub platform aimed at empowering youth.
Global Arcus founder and CEO, Mr Sachin Shekar, congratulated the scholarship recipients and urged them to work hard. He also acknowledged the role of parents in the process.
“It’s an honor for Global Arcus to play a part in your educational journey, and we are committed to providing you with the support you need to succeed in India.
“I like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the parents for entrusting us with the care of their children. We understand the sacrifices that come with sending your child abroad for education, therefore we expect hardwork,” he said.
Mobishop 263 managing director Mr Tendai Davy Makiwa stressed the need for strategic alliances to spur Zimbabwe’s growth.
“Zimbabwe remains one of the most hopeful places on the globe with various untapped opportunities which require active private companies to partner with the government and international partners to deliver lasting impact to individuals, communities and society as a whole,” said Mr Makiwa.
Parent Melusi Sibanda expressed gratitude to the organisers, describing the opportunity as life-changing for his son.
“It is a dream come true, this achievement is a testament to the power of collaboration and partnership which I need to thank on behalf of my parents.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Global Arcus, Mobishop and all the other organisations involved in making this initiative a success. You have made it possible for students like my son to access world-class education and pursue their aspirations.”
Outgoing student Tinovimbanashe Sewera pledged to harness the knowledge gained in India for the benefit of Zimbabwe.
“Personally, as a student going to study in India, I pledge to bring more ideas to advance my country’s digital economy.
“Just as our forefathers built the Great Zimbabwe with their own intelligence, I believe my generation can exceed their legacy with our own intelligence affirmed by our studies abroad,” he added.
