Beitbridge – A jilted man has blown the lid off a secret two-year affair by revealing the relationship to his married lover’s husband in a bid for revenge.
Nhlanganisi Sibanda, an immigration officer stationed at Beitbridge Border Post, had been involved in an extramarital affair with Tafadzwa Sigauke, the wife of a local police officer, since 2023.
The clandestine relationship came to a dramatic end when Tafadzwa decided to cut ties, triggering an unexpected and explosive reaction from her former lover.
Tensions escalated after Sibanda demanded the return of a laptop he had gifted Sigauke during their time together.
When she refused, he retaliated by directly informing her husband about the affair.
Sigauke, visibly shaken by the fallout, shared her thoughts in an interview.
“Honestly, Sibanda behaved like a child.
“We met in Gwanda where he pursued me, and I eventually agreed to the relationship.
“He gave me the laptop as a present, but I told my husband I bought it in installments,” she said.
Sigauke explained that growing feelings of guilt and Sibanda’s persistent demands for intimacy led her to terminate the affair.
“When I ended things, he became obsessed with getting his laptop back. He crossed the line by calling my husband and revealing everything,” she said.
Sigauke is failing to understand why Sibanda thought outing them to her husband would get good results.
In an emotional interview Sigauke added: “Who does that? It’s incredibly immature. No one discovered our relationship – he told my husband himself.”
“Now my husband is furious and considering legal action against Sibanda. I won’t return the laptop, I’m a student and need it.
“This whole situation shows his poor judgment,” she added.
The incident has sparked widespread chatter in the border town, as both families now navigate the fallout of the exposed affair.
