Harare – The Diwali Festival, a luminous journey from ignorance to enlightenment, ego to selflessness, and darkness to light, was recently commemorated in the heart of the capital at the prestigious Harare Country Club.
A dazzling display of lights, vibrant colors, and cultural performances transformed the venue into a magical space, honoring the festival of lights.
Diwali, also known as Deepavali or the Festival of Lights, is one of the most significant festivals in Hinduism.
It symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
The festival, which was celebrated on October 31st, is traditionally observed over five days with great enthusiasm and joy.
Families and friends gather to decorate their homes with colorful lights, candles, and diyas (clay lamps), signifying the triumph of light over darkness.

The Diwali celebrations at the Harare Country Club were hosted by Dr. Vivek Solanki, CEO of Trauma Centre, Borrowdale, and Mrs. Ana Solanki.
Guests were welcomed by a stunning display of colorful rangoli, created by local artisans, and flickering diyas that illuminated the pathway, setting a festive mood.
The evening was a culinary delight, featuring a lavish buffet of traditional Indian dishes.
From flavorful street food to fragrant rice dishes and an assortment of appetizers like pakoras and samosas, the menu catered to every palate.
The dessert table was a feast for the eyes and taste buds, with a variety of sweets such as paan, barfi, gulab jamun, and traditional Indian mithai.
In addition to the delicious food, the celebration was infused with cultural traditions.
The evening’s entertainment included captivating Bollywood-style singers, mesmerizing dance performances, and a thrilling fire dance show.

The highlight of the night was the performance by the Rusike Brothers, who got the crowd on their feet with their infectious music.

The event was graced by the presence of Amitbhai Maharaj from Mumbai, India.
Samir Popatlal, the MC for the evening, kept the crowd engaged with his witty remarks and smooth transitions.
As the evening progressed, laughter and cheer filled the air.
Guests mingled, shared stories, and connected over their shared heritage and culture.
The dance floor came alive with the sounds of Bollywood music, and everyone joined in the celebrations.
Dr. Vivek Solanki expressed his joy in hosting the event and emphasized the importance of inclusivity within the Hindu community during Diwali.
